I worked for the Tata Group for 5 years. I had joined the group at TataNet, a Satcom Company and later got transferred to the SME unit of Tata Teleservices. SME team takes care of the SME (Data & Voice) & Retail customer (only Wire line Data & Voice).

Tata Teleservices is in business of providing telecom services under the brand name “Tata DOCOMO”. I got transferred to Tata Tale Services wire line business Broadband & Voice services in Feb 2011 to support the newly formed SME team.
Responsibilities:
1. Key responsibility to ensure profitability for the wire line broadband & voice business
2. New Product / Functionality Development, which include Concept note creation, Business case approvals from BU & Finance head, BRS creation with cross functional teams and step by step follow-up with IT up to the Production movement of the new Product / Functionality.
3. Pricing & positioning of the product
4. Product life cycle Management, which includes regular product performance reporting to Product & Marketing head, new functionalities / changes in the existing product as per the market requirement and business requirement & offers & bundling to boost sales.
5. Regulatory Reporting of plans and feedback to CRA team on the queries regarding the plans and broadband product.
6. Documentation for internal & external audits related to external certification (ISO & TL900) and group’s internal certification (TBEM).
7. Training on product/functionality change to ASRMs (trainer) & operations team which include Order entry, iCare (Installation team), Customer Support & Call centres (inbound & Outbound).
8. Vendor development and relationship management for product/services related requirement.
Key Achievements:
1. New Product/ feature/process Developments:
a. Fair Usage Policy functionality, which enabled us to provide high speed broadband on competitive price.
b. Bandwidth on demand: This feature enabled Broadband subscribers to increase the bandwidth of the connectivity as per their requirement.
c. Automation of Service provisioning (DSLAM Automation): Earlier the bandwidth allocation on the DSLAM was a manual activity in TTML area. Through automation we were able to cut the time to provision the service and also arrested the chances of manual errors.
d. FTTH / Third Party Infra: This project enabled us to use the third party infra. Specially Fibre to provide high speed broadband in the new geographical areas.
e. Automation of dunning process: With this automation, people dependency for the dunning and resuming the subscriber was removed. Integration of payment and credit monitoring system made the dunning and resumption of services error free.
f. Automation of IP inventory update: This functionality enabled us to quick provisioning of IP Pools for the Broadband service.
g. Safe Custody feature: This feature enabled us to reduce the operational challenge of subscriber getting billed and then provided waivers for a period he doesn’t need a broadband connection. Now the subscriber can put his connectivity in safe custody and later when he is back can use the services by just reactivating the services just by a call to Support Team.

3. Plan rationalisation for broadband & voice services in Mumbai, RoM circles. – March 2011
4. Wire line broadband services launched in 12 new circles – Aug 2011
5. Plan rationalisation for broadband & voice services in Rest of India – Sep 2011
6. Lead the cross selling / over selling activity through calling which resulted in the increase of revenue by approx Rs. 1 Crore a year.

Tatanet provides Shared hub VSAT (Satellite communication) services. It’s a Tata Group company & division of Nelco Limited.
Responsibilities:
1. Key responsibility to ensure profitability for the services/product which includes VSAT and hosted education services.
2. New Product / Functionality Development, which includes Concept note creation, Business case approvals from ED & Finance head, Process document and requirement note creation with cross functional teams and step by step follow-up with IT & Vendor for the Production movement of the new Product / Functionality product Development – Pricing & positioning of the product

4. BTL Activities: Communication and events targeting the new acquisition participating the telecom, defence and Banking events.

5. Internet Over iDirect (iNet) for Rigs & Corporate launched in July 2009
6. Surveillance over VSAT (ReadyView) launched in Jan 2010
7. NSE broking platform connectivity (TNET STOCK INSTA) launched in May 2010
8. Enterprise web collaboration services (TNET – MVS) Launched in June 2010
