QC Welding Inspector & QC Engineer
- Reviewing & Preparing WPS as per the required standard & specification & to verify pWPS.
- To ensure that the production is carried out as per the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) & to rectify the problems with Quality Management & Production if there are any deviations.
- To ensure all welding procedures carried out are as per the WPS & other requirements,
- Working with the QMS & to perform Root cause Analyses (RCA) when needed.
- To involve in joint preparation in designing & to verify the drawings for Fabrication Specifications.
- Co-ordinating Joint Preparation, Fit-ups, Tack Welding, Alignment Inspection & QC & NDT Inspections.
- To Interpret Drawings & do the Markings for the fabrication processes & to inspect all welded joints for alignment, weld quality & dimensions as per the applicable codes & standards.
- To foresee the requirement of Post-Weld Heat Treatment &/or Pre-Weld Heat Treatment taking in account the material grade, thickness, welding process & consumables.
- Inspecting post weld heat treatment on joints to maintain correct Heating-Cooling cycle.
- To supervise applied distortion control methods & to check if there is minimum or no welding distortion & the dimensions are acceptable as per the inspection plan &/or dimensional drawings.
- Supervising Cutting, Gouging, Welding, Grinding, NDT Inspection, Inter-pass Cleaning & Material Handling & to inspect welding edge/joint preparation in various stages of fabrication.
- Reviewing Procedure qualification record (PQR) if needed, as if for a rectification when a problem arises or for a change in technique &/or design & to approve if the result adheres to the requirement.
- To oversee if Welding consumables (Electrodes, Filler wire, Gas composition & others) are by the standard of test certificates & as per the base material grade.
- To raise NCR (Non-Conformance Report) & to track & resolve NCR on the Welding Department.
- Reviewing & updating NCR(s) weekly & to take decisions with the management regarding CAPA.
- To maintain stock of equipment used for NDT, Welding & PPE for welders, NDT inspectors & workers.
- Coordinating preparation of joints for window welding, purge welding & other joints & identifying visual defect on weld, also using borescope when necessary & to carry out repairs if required.
- To Co-ordinate & interpret Non-destructive testing; PT, UT, MPT, & RT according to I.T.P.
- Co-ordinating with NDT Inspectors on various technical issues, support, codes & standard & to oversee Inspection procedure to achieve the intended resolution & quality in inspection.
- To monitor & evaluate pressure testing, finding leakage points & to plan & proceed with repairs according to the followed codes & standards for the material & equipment.
- Monitoring welders to ensure all welding work carried out are as per approved WPS & other requirements, & to check proper usage of welding ovens, heat treatment equipment & thermocouples.
- Witnessing welder qualification test & qualifying welders for different metals, thickness
& diameter ranges, allocating jobs accordingly & planning manpower for job undertaken.
- Managing & maintaining the required records (welder qualifications, daily welding reports, repair rates, & weld/welder traceability) as per the requirements.
